2006 - Turkey Season Results....
2006 - March 11 - Cathy Johnson catches a 13 lb., 8 oz. bass!
2005 - November 19 - Richard Speer takes the only 3 1/2 year old of the year. Our hunters this year passed up on many borderline 3 1/2 year old bucks this year. And, in total, our members spotted more bucks than any previous year. Next year, all these guys will be a year older, hopefully not a year wiser and we're certain of an abundance of "shooters". Only time will tell.
2005 - October 29 - Youth Hunt - Nathaniel Minneman, Tom Barnes and Jack Jackson were successful. Nathaniel harvested his first ever deer with a perfect shot on a 1 1/2 yr old spike. That afternoon, Tom Barnes took a 120 lb 2 1/2 yr old doe from Stand 13. Then, Sunday morning, 8 year old Jack Jackson made a 100 yard shot from Stand 212 and got his button buck. Thanks to all who attended - Derrick and Kaitlen Michaelis, Nathaniel Greene and Maddie, Greg Sheanshang's 7 year old granddaughter. Take a look at Nathaniel's expression on receiving his knife.
2005 - August 15th - Mike Wright was officially hired as our Club Manager, assuming the responsibilities after Jimmy Barnes retires on December 31st.
2005 - Turkey Season - Opening morning - Many members present, including Robert Alexander, Wilson Burton, Philip Fontenot, Nate Greene, Owen Hardcastle, Nat Harris, Jim Love, Will Morgan, Steve and Al Minneman, Skip Neblett, Greg Sheanshang, Richard Speer and Frank Stephens. See Turkey Hunting for details.
2004 - Turkey Hunting. We finished the turkey season and surpassed all realistic goals with a total of 25.
Opening Weekend (Gun Season) 2003 - Deer Hunting. These three were harvested on our opening weekend by Owen Hardcastle, Will Morgan and Ned Priest. See story in "News" and in the Deer Hunting Sections.
SUMMARY OF OWNERSHIP IN HEART'S DESIRE
The twenty-four shareholders each own an undivided interest in 3,250 acres (all contiguous), the 1,800 square foot lodge, farming equipment, work truck, an 8 acre fishing lake, the manager's house and all other assets. An additional 457 acres are leased. Governed by a shareholder-elected Board of Directors, the property and facilities are managed through the manager, Mike Wright. Mike has a BS and an MS in Agriculture from Murray State University and is retired from the UT Extension Service, having served Humphreys County in various capacities, the last 2 years being as the Director. Mike is assisted by Stephen Scott who resides on site.
The overall purposes of this multiple-absentee-owner, on-site management concept are to optimize hunting, minimize farming and security problems, and, equally as important, to share expenses. Owners each own 1/24th, utilize 100%, and are not required to actively participate in the on-site activities and/or problems.
In other words, ownership in HD offers an attractive alternative for all those currently dealing with the various problems of hunting on public or leased land, poacher control, property management, farming and costs associated with all the above.
Many members use the club for hunting only. For others, the full use of the property year round for business or family meetings, hiking, four-wheeling, "camping out", etc., is a bonus to get the entire family and/or business associates involved.
At present, membership is full. However, four members have expressed a willingness to sell their certificates and other assets individually owned to other hunting enthusiasts who share the same or similar objectives and who would be compatible with the other members. For additional information, follow this link to the Selling Shareholders. The shares may be owned either individually or corporately, subject to each member/user being approved by the Board of Directors.
The purpose of this site is not only to inform existing members of current happenings, recent harvests, hunting schedules, etc., but also to expose others to this premiere hunting and recreational facility in hopes of generating replacement members and a waiting list of potential members. We have a couple of prospects on the list and are seeking more.
